Georgia’s road to the European Union is one of the priority directions for the country, “if not the most important one”, Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's Committee on Human Rights, said on Wednesday at the Conference titled Georgia’s Road to the EU.

At the joint Conference, organised by the Parliament and the Georgian National Platform of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, Sarjveladze highlighted the importance of joint work on EU recommendations, outlined by the bloc for granting its membership candidate status.

He noted the format would give the Georgian authorities “a good opportunity” to “properly plan” their work in relation to each priority, adding the Conference would also ensure the “inclusive” process for the fulfilment of the EU recommendations.

The third edition of the Conference has been hosted in Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi, aiming to promote discussion and dialogue between MPs and the representatives of civil society on Georgia’s EU membership.
