Georgian, Armenian defence ministers sign cooperation deal

Georgian and Armenian defence ministers Juansher Burchuladze and Suren Papikyan on Friday signed a deal on cooperation between the ministries of the two countries.
The Georgian Defence Ministry said the signing took place as part of Burchuladze’s visit to Armenia, where the official and his counterpart reviewed the security environment in the Black Sea region.

The Georgian Minister told his colleague Georgia was “ready to promote peace” in the region.
The parties also discussed “current and future” defence cooperation between their states.
Relations and cooperation between Georgia and Armenia were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian defence minister Juansher Burchuladze and Ashot Smbatyan, the newly appointed Armenian ambassador to Georgia.
Cooperation in various fields between Georgia and Armenia was discussed on Tuesday between Shalva Papuashvili, the Georgian Parliament Speaker, and Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Armenian President, as part of the latter’s visit to the country.
Questions of cooperation between Georgia and Armenia in the field of defence, and relations between the two countries were discussed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Suren Papikyan, the Armenian Minister of Defence in Tbilisi on Wednesday.
