Deputy Economy Minister: Georgia preparing to host World Tourism Day, FIS Ski Cross World Cup

The Georgian authorities’ preparations for hosting the World Tourism Day and the FIS Ski Cross World Cup series were highlighted by Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Friday in her briefing of travel agencies, associations and Foreign Ministry officials on initiatives ongoing in the domestic tourism sector.

Kvrivishvilli highlighted the importance of developing resort zones and strengthening of infrastructure in the country’s winter resorts.

With close cooperation with the private sector, even more jobs will be created [in the domestic industry] to have a positive impact on strengthening small and medium-sized entrepreneurs of the country”, she said at the meeting.

Revealing plans of the National Tourism Agency, Maya Omiadze, the Head of the body, said her team would activate promotional efforts for tourist markets of the European Union, Scandinavia, the United States, China, India and Japan.

The GNTA will participate in 21 tourism fairs, organise digital marketing campaigns, host international journalists and bloggers and host tours for international travel companies, Omiadze also said.

With the aim of promoting business tourism, the Agency will organise “tens of events” next year, including the M&I forum for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism industry.
