Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday said the “long-term” responsibility of the Georgian Government was to bring the country “as close as possible” to the “European family” and see it become its “worthy member”.

In his remarks, Darchiashvili noted the meeting of the EU Integration Commission, led by the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, on Friday reviewed the 2024 agenda of steps for ensuring the Government “continues to implement reforms”.

“[The European Commission’s positive recommendation on EU candidacy for Georgia] is not the end of the process - we continue to implement our country's ambitious reform agenda”, he said.

We are trying to continue progress on the reform agenda until December 15, when the European Council and member states have to make a decision on granting Georgia the candidate status”, the top Georgian diplomat noted.
