Georgian, Croatian justice ministers sign deal on approximating Georgia's penitentiary legislation to EU standards

Rati Bregadze, the Georgian Justice Minister and Ivan Malenica, the Minister of Justice and Public Administration of Croatia, on Wednesday signed a deal on deepening relations between the two countries for bringing Georgia's penitentiary legislation closer to European Union standards.

The Georgia’s Ministry of Justice said the document, signed on the sidelines of the Conference on Innovations in the Rehabilitation and Resocialisation Process of Inmates and Probationers, also involved electronic governance, effective management of penitentiary systems and rehabilitation and resocialisation of convicts.

Hosted in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, the conference featured professionals from over 20 countries, domestic officials, public servants and non-governmental organisations.
