Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Wednesday highlighted the Middle Corridor as “an effective way” to strengthen trade between Europe and Asia.
In his interview with the Chinese media, Davitashvili said the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route was “one of the main priorities” for Georgia, which is located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
The Middle Corridor will connect China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the European Union. Cargo can go through Georgia to Turkey or directly to European cities”, the Minister noted.
He added that a global infrastructure development strategy - the Belt and Road Initiative - adopted by the Chinese Government in 2013 was a “large-scale” infrastructure investment initiative important for the participant countries for the development of their infrastructure.
The Georgian Minister also spoke about several important political and economic issues with the Chinese media, including the existing partnership with the country and the prospects of developing the relations.
