This profession has always been the most distinguished, honourable and responsible profession among those that need special appreciation. This is the main priority for me, and in order to support teachers, I actively continue to work on new initiatives with my team”, Amilakhvari said at the award ceremony.
Amilakhvari said the National Teacher Prize, established in 2017, was “one of the most important awards” in the country and thanked organisers involved in handing out the prize.
He also briefed those involved in the awards about the Ministry’s initiative to establish National Teacher’s Day on October 27, marking the birthday of Iakob Gogebashvili - Georgian educator, teacher, publicist, writer and founder of the scientific pedagogy in the country.
Teachers will be awarded the prize for their “contribution to the development of the society and the education system”, with the prize coming with a specially designed badge and a monetary award.
