The Georgian National Communications Commission has trained 300 residents of the country’s western city of Ambrolauri in digital literacy and internet safety rules as part of the Log-in-Georgia project, the body said on Monday.

Participants of the programme were introduced to the skill of research, creation and use of e-mail, Google Maps and Google Translator tools, sharing of locations and use of online communication tools.

Co-founded by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank, the project aims to provide around 500,000 individuals in about 1,000 villages and rural settlements across the country with access to affordable, high-quality internet services.

The project also aims to help develop digital skills and facilitate the use of digital services.

Log-in-Georgia was developed by the Georgian government and the World Bank in the framework of the national strategy for broadband internet development between 2020-2025.
