The speakers of Georgian and Turkish parliaments on Friday agreed to resume the trilateral format of cooperation between the institutions with the engagement of their Azerbaijani counterpart, Irakli Chikovani, the Deputy Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction, said while in Dublin.
Attending the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament, the lawmaker said the top parliamentary officials highlighted the “strategic cooperation” and “dynamically developing” ties between their states, and ways to further strengthen partnership on the sidelines of the international event.
The discussion also involved economic cooperation and existing security challenges in the South Caucasus region sparked by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday addressed the Conference that brought together speakers and presidents of parliament from the 46 member states of the Council of Europe and many partner, observer and neighbouring countries, as well as the heads of several interparliamentary assemblies between Thursday and Friday.
