Challenges in human rights protection by Georgian institutions were discussed between the Interior Ministry and the Office of the Public Defender on Friday, the Ministry announced.
Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Acting Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze discussed the Public Defender’s mandate, specifics of the Office and its current activities.
The parties also discussed cooperation prospects and future plans of the state institutions, the body added.
The working meeting was organised within the European Union-funded project Support to External Security Sector Oversight in Georgia, which aims to increase the human security in the country by enhancing accountability of security-related actors.
