Finance Ministry investigators arrest two for selling counterfeit money

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Wednesday said its professionals had arrested two individuals for selling counterfeit money.

The body said its investigation had found the suspects had sold counterfeit ₾1 ($0.38) coins in Georgia's central-eastern region of Shida Kartli between December 2022 and July of the current year.

It also said it had seized 524 units of the forged coins.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment between seven and 10 years.
