Finance Ministry investigators seize $20,257 in undeclared gold, silver items

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Thursday said its professionals had identified three cases of attempted smuggling of a “particularly large” quantity of undeclared gold and silver items into the country.

The Service said the investigation had seized 405 grams of gold and 6,528 grams of silver items valued at ₾52,968 ($20,257).

The crime is punishable with imprisonment from five to seven years.
