Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's “historic” visit to China would “definitely” yield “specific, tangible” results and bring the two countries together “even closer” in “many directions”.
In his remarks over the visit and its outcomes, Darchiashvili noted the existing bilateral relations between the two countries - which he described as “good and friendly” - were moving into a “new phase”.
“Political relations are a new phase of the strategic cooperation [between the two countries], which will bring new impetus to cooperation. As for the economic direction, we have very dynamic trade relations with China, and it is these political, further deepened relations that will give a new impetus to cooperation in trade and economic relations”, Darchiashvili said.
None of the [Georgian] leaders’ visits to China have had similar impacts, or produced results like these. From this point of view, the visit of the Prime Minister is historic [and] will further promote and strengthen the rapprochement of our country with China”, the top Georgian diplomat noted.
Georgian and Chinese Governments on Monday shared their “commitment” to expand cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields, strengthen collaboration in international affairs and bilateral relations, and safeguard regional and world peace, stability and development together in a joint statement on establishing a strategic partnership.
