Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday said establishing a strategic partnership with China was “one of the most important foreign policy achievements” of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
In his remarks over Garibashvili’s visit to China and subsequent agreement on the partnership, Kobakhidze said the development with China was “important in many ways”.
It is important to take advantage of all the resources that can be derived from this partnership [with China]. Naturally, all steps will be taken so that the strategic partnership is properly implemented”, Kobakhidze told reporters.
The ruling party head also called the joint document on the agreement “great” and said the new ties were “mutually interesting and mutually beneficial”.
Garibashvili on Monday said his country attached a “great importance” to the new “partnership and friendship” with China, which he said was based on mutual respect and a vision of “common prosperity and sustainable development”.
The two governments on Monday shared their “commitment” to expand cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields, strengthen collaboration in international affairs and bilateral relations, and safeguard regional and world peace, stability and development together in a joint statement on establishing a strategic partnership.
