With the financial and organisational support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine was promoted at 35 different events held in 11 countries over the six months of this year, the Agency announced on Saturday.

The products of various Georgia-based small and medium-sized wineries were presented to markets of the United States, France, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands, as well as Latvia, China, Poland, Great Britain, South Korea and Denmark.

Supported by the Agency, Georgian wine was presented at 10 international exhibitions, nine festivals and 16 tastings, including VinExpo Paris, Foodex Japan, Vinexpo New York, ProWein, The 108th China Food & Drinks Fair, London Wine Fair, Seoul Wine and Spirits Expo, and others.

By participating in such exhibitions, Georgian wine producers have the opportunity to present their products to wine professionals, importers, representatives of trade and restaurant chains, that is one of the main prerequisites for interest in Georgian wine and sales growth”, the Agency said.

Wine exhibitions, competitions, tours and festivals are held throughout Georgia to fully utilise the potential of wine tourism in Georgia and increase wine consumer culture as part of the Georgian wine promotion programme, for which the state allocated ₾14 million (about $5.4 mln).

The body said it had signed memorandums with the US, Germany and South Korea to hold marketing events in the countries and noted from 2023, the agricultural programme of the US Agency for International Development also supported the promotion of Georgian wine.

The US, Great Britain, Germany, Poland and the Baltic countries, as well as China, South Korea and Japan, are recognised as “strategic markets” for Georgian products, the National Wine Agency added.
