The Georgian National Tourism Administration organised an informational tour, promoting the country’s tourism potential for the participants of the Discover Georgia forum supported by m&i, a company running networking events in the industry, the GNTA said on Sunday.
About 60 buyers from Germany, France, the United Kingdom and other countries visited Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, the ancient capital city of Mtskheta, the resort town Borjomi and Uplistsikhe cave town in central Georgia, as well as Tsinandali, Kvareli and Lopota lake resorts in the country’s east.
As part of the tour, they also took part in rafting in the southern Samtskhe-Javakheti region and visited wineries in Georgia’s eastern wine region Kakheti.
Representatives of the largest European business tourism companies inspected the tourist infrastructure of Georgia, discovering locations for hosting prospective future international conferences in the country.
One of the forum participants, Daniel Versace, highlighted the similarities between Georgians and French and emphasised the hospitality of Georgia. “This is a country with a history of wine, old cities, and traditions. Georgia is a safe and green country that has a lot to offer both the French and the rest of Europe”, he added.
Discover Georgia, a forum for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism, ran between Wednesday and Thursday in Tbilisi.
