Summer Fancy Food Show, the biggest speciality food industry event in North America, featured 16 Georgian food and beverage companies last week, Enterprise Georgia, the state programme for promoting entrepreneurship, said on Tuesday.

Running between June 25-27, the event hosted Georgian stands at the exhibition to introduce thousands of fair visitors to about 20 authentic Georgian products, including honey, nuts, dried fruits, sauces, juices and spices, the programme said.

Enterprise Georgia Director Mikheil Khidureli said expanding into the American export market represented one of the agency’s “top priorities”, and noted about 20 Georgian businesses had been given the chance to introduce their products with the support and assistance of the United States Agency for International Development’s Agriculture Programme.

Georgia has historically been a country producing high-quality food and beverage products, and today all modern standards and certifications have been implemented, as a result of which Georgian products can already confidently occupy a place among premium quality products in both the American and other major markets of the world,” Khidureli added.

He also said the agency was “actively trying” to diversify markets for Georgian businesses and export products made in the country across the world.
