EU Envoy to review “effective” implementation of sanctions against Russia in Tbilisi visit

The European Union Sanctions Envoy David O’Sullivan will on Monday arrive in Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi for a two-day visit to discuss with the Georgian authorities "issues of common interest", notably sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and their “effective” implementation. 

The objective of the visit is to open a "direct channel" of communication and establish a "cooperative dialogue" for the future, the European Union Delegation to Georgia said. 

The Georgian authorities have been very forthcoming on issues of particular importance for the Envoy’s visit and we look forward to continuing our close cooperation”, their comment said. 

During the visit, meetings will be held with the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili, Acting Governor of the National Bank Archil Mestvirishvili and Prosecutor General Irakli Shotadze. 

O’Sullivan will also meet with representatives of the business community.
