Strategic partnership and prospects of future cooperation between Georgia and Turkey were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the Secretary General of Turkey's National Security Council Governor Seyfullah Hacımüftüoğlu.
The PM’s press office said the officials expressed readiness for further deepening and strengthening the existing partnership between the two countries, noting the importance of further developing their "strategic alliance" not only in the political and economic but also "security-related" sectors.
In comments on the existing security partnership, the officials emphasised the importance of expanding contacts in order to ensure a “steady and sustainable development” of the Black Sea region.
The office also said the Georgian side expressed its gratitude to Turkey for its “firm support” for Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The meeting was also attended by Georgia's Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri and the Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbai.
