Georgian Parliament Speaker, French Minister review EU integration

Georgia’s progress on the implementation of the European Union conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status was discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Laurence Boone, the French Minister of State for Europe.

In remarks over the meeting, hosted a part of his visit to Paris, Papuashvili highlighted France’s “strong” support for the country’s European integration.

I expressed my hope that by the end of the year, Georgia will be granted the status of a candidate country. The Minister of State promised France's firm support on the path of European integration and democratic reforms”, Papuashvili said.

“At the meeting, we also reviewed the geopolitical situation and security challenges in the region”, the Parliament official noted.
