Diana Jabłońska, the Head of Unit for the team following Georgia, Moldova and the Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership in the European Commission, on Thursday said the European Commission’s report on Georgia's compliance with the European Union legislation showed there was an “important basis for moving forward”.
In her comments at the 12th meeting of the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee in Brussels, Jabłońska noted while challenges still existed, it was “important” to present “specific reforms with solid implementation”.
The EU official stressed the Georgian public “strongly supported” the country’s integration into the European Union.
“The window of opportunity is still open. Challenges exist, but it is important to present specific reforms with solid implementation. Of course, we at the European Commission are here to help. We offer support”, Jabłońska said.
She also added that investments in the country required an “appropriate investment climate”, and pointed out that the EU was “the largest donor to Georgia and will continue to provide financial support”.
