The cooperation between Georgia and France and Georgia’s European integration process were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Gérard Larcher, the President of the French Senate.
Papuashvili, who is on a visit to Paris, reviewed the progress of the implementation of the European Union conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status later this year, and expressed his hope the European Council would make a positive decision on the status, the press office of the Georgian Parliament said.

Larcher noted France continued to support Georgia on the path to European integration. He also emphasised Georgia's aspiration to join NATO and noted the country’s contribution to ensuring global security and stability in the region was “immeasurable”.
The officials also expressed their willingness to deepen the existing “close” partnership between the two countries.
