Davit Narmania, the Head of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, on Thursday said no increase in the electricity tariff was expected for “at least” the next year to year and a half.
Interpressnews also cited Narmania as saying the Commission had written off ₾1.4 million ($0.54mln) in bills “incorrectly” charged to citizens last year, as well as in the form of “old debts”.
The compensation was mostly given in the electricity sector”, he said, adding old debts held a major share in the amounts written off.
The Commission on Wednesday shared a chart on its official Facebook page, showing Georgia had one of the lowest household electricity tariffs among 38 European countries.
“Only Azerbaijan has a lower household tariff than Georgia”, the Commission said.
