The dynamics of cooperation between the Government of Georgia and the World Bank were reviewed on Wednesday by the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the Bank’s newly appointed South Caucasus Regional Director Rolande Pryce, who will officially take office on September 1.

Garibashvili noted the Bank had played an important role in the development, growth and modernisation of the Georgian economy over three decades, highlighting its “significant contribution” to the development of Georgia after the country gained its independence.

The conversation also touched on the prospects of further deepening and expanding existing cooperation with the Bank, which currently has 15 active investments amounting to $1.5 billion,  the Government Administration said.

The PM congratulated Pryce on her appointment and thanked the acting Regional Director Sebastian Molyneux, who also attended the meeting, for his effective and fruitful cooperation with the Government during his four-year work.

The Head of the Government wished both Pryce and Molyneux success in their future work.
