The reliable and favourable business environment in Georgia was the focus of the meeting on Wednesday between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Béatrice Buffon, the Senior Executive Vice President of EDF Group, a French multinational electric utility company.
Georgia’s potential in the energy sector was also discussed at the meeting, with the sides pointing out the country’s active phase of development in this regard, the Government Administration said.
Garibashvili highlighted the specific steps taken by the Government for the development of the energy sector, emphasising the importance of a modern, transparent and competitive energy market.
Buffon expressed the EDF’s willingness to invest in renewable energy in Georgia, mainly in hydroelectric plants and showed interest in wind and solar projects, while Garibashvili confirmed to EDF Vice President his Government’s readiness to cooperate with the French energy company.
