Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili would feature in the final part of the World Economic Forum in Davos alongside other leaders, and said meetings at the event had highlighted the potential of the South Caucasus region in strengthening Europe's energy security.

In his remarks, the top Georgian diplomat noted the head of the Government was holding meetings with large international companies that were interested in the country’s investment climate and environment.

The Prime Minister is taking part in important discussions held within the framework of the World Economic Forum. [...] New opportunities for global cooperation have been discussed, the leaders talked about how to deal with the challenges that exist in the world on the one hand, and on the other hand, how to maximise coordination and cooperation so that countries can lead in one direction, according to the right priorities”, Darchiashvili said.

The FM also said Garibashvili would participate in the closing part of the Forum, in a talk alongside Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Johannes Hahn, the EU Commissioner for Budget and Administration, with the discussion being moderated by the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, Mirek Dušek.

The final part of the World Economic Forum, the most important discussion, in which the Georgian Prime Minister will take part, will deal with the question of how the ‘Middle Corridor’ of Eurasia has turned from a path to a highway”, the Minister pointed out in reference to the logistical route sought for diversifying supplies between Central Asia, South Caucasus and Europe in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Darchiashvili stressed the “main goal” of the discussions was to “show the world the potential our region has”, as well as contributions of Georgia and the South Caucasus to further strengthening Europe's energy security and further diversifying energy resources supplied to Europe.
