Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday said protecting the rights of Georgian citizens abroad and ensuring their needs were met was an “important priority” of the foreign office.
Darchiashvili made the remark after attending the opening ceremony of a coordination meeting of the Georgian consular officials abroad, the Ministry said.
The top Georgian diplomat emphasised the need for “proper and efficient” work of the consular service of the Ministry, and of its planned measures, and noted ensuring care for citizens both in the country and abroad as a “principal duty” for the state agencies.

I want your every step and daily activity to be tailored to the citizens of Georgia abroad, and you will, of course, have support from us - primarily from the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - in order to take care of the well-being of Georgian citizens even more effectively”, Darchiashvili told the consular officials.
The Minister also extended his gratitude to the officials for their “professionalism and dedication”, and urged them to “continue working actively” in providing support to Georgian nationals abroad.
