Georgian police on Thursday said law enforcement officers had arrested 55 individuals on drug-related charges, including 37 for drug-dealing.
Central Criminal Police Department Head Teimuraz Kupatadze said the individuals had concealed the substances before communicating their positions to persons interested in purchasing the drugs.
He added police officers had seized “especially large amounts” of heroin, cocaine, alpha PVP, methamphetamine, marijuana and other drugs as well as money allegedly obtained from drug sales during searches of the individuals, residential houses and vehicles related to them.
He also said police officers had seized a firearm, 26 cartridges and two magazines from one of the arrested individuals.
Involving charges for sale, purchase, possession, illegal planting, growing and cultivation of drugs, the offences are punishable by 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
