Georgian PM reviews global challenges at CoE Summit roundtable

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday participated in a roundtable discussion within the framework of the Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe.

The discussion was hosted around the theme of “how to ensure democracy when the world tests us on risks, resilience and loyalty”. 

Garibashvili reviewed the challenges facing the world and the need to solve them, the Government Administration said. 

 

He noted the "sustainability" of democracy in Georgia on the backdrop of "current challenges", pointing out the country was “committed to the values ​​that are the basis of democracy - freedom, equality and the rule of law”. 

Garibashvili also discussed efforts made by his Government in protecting democratic institutions and human rights, and noted they were “fully in line" with the European Union’s conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status.
