Georgian PM to feature at CoE Summits of Heads of State and Government

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday left for Iceland to participate in the Summits of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe in Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavík.
Garibashvili will address participants of the Summit, the Government Administration said in comments on the PM’s agenda for the event.
The Georgian delegation also involves Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and the Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.
The CoE event will run between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Archil Talakvadze, the Georgian Parliament’s Vice Speaker, on Friday said the “fruitful” cooperation between the country’s authorities and the Council of Europe served as “additional motivation” for a further consolidation of democracy, strengthening of the rule of law and protection of human rights in the country.

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said Marija Burić, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, had “positively” assessed the ongoing reforms in Georgia, including those related to fulfilment of the European Union conditions for granting the country a membership candidate status.
The Georgian representation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Monday supported Tiny Kox in elections for the President of the body, with Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chair of the Georgia’s ruling party, explaining the delegation’s support for the candidate.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Tuesday said the participation of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in the fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe in Reykjavik this week carried a “special importance”.
Tiny Kox, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on Tuesday expressed the Assembly’s “full support” for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, stressing Russia “must leave all occupied territories in Europe”.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday participated in a roundtable discussion within the framework of the Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe.
