Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday claimed the domestic “radical” opposition in the country was “gradually weakening".

In an interview with Imedi TV, the ruling party official also said the alleged development gave the Georgian Dream party a “very good basis” for showing a good result in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.

Kobakhidze said "while the parts are being rearranged, the sum of the parts is decreasing", in reference to recent intra party disagreements in the opposition United National Movement party and resulting changes in the overall opposition.

While they are sorting out relations among themselves, while they have conflicts, while odious persons are elected as chairs and in high positions, the sum of these parts is actually decreasing. Some parts may no longer be relevant in the mathematical formula of the radical opposition”, Kobakhidze claimed.
