Georgia's accession to the European Union and the importance of Poland's “firm” support for the process were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and the Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, who is on an official visit to Georgia.
The meeting noted that European integration as the expressed will of the country’s citizens and its “unwavering” choice, the Presidential Administration said.
Zourabichvili thanked the Polish Government for its support for the objective, and called it “also of geopolitical importance for Europe”.
The officials also reviewed security challenges in the Black Sea region and the importance of strengthening regional security, as well as the ongoing war in Ukraine and the situation on the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia.
