Lithuanian company Girteka, one of the largest logistics companies in Europe, will invest €1 million and create 400 jobs in Georgia over the next three years as part of the FDI Grant programme under the auspices of Georgia’s export promotion agency Enterprise Georgia.
The Agency announced on Wednesday the latest edition of its grant - initially launched in 2020 - would promote growth of foreign direct investments in Georgia, inflow of technology and creation of new jobs in the country.
It also said the company would receive a 15 percent cashback through the state programme.
“In order to evaluate the investment potential of the country, Girteka actively collaborated with the Invest in Georgia team of Enterprise Georgia during the decision-making process and chose Georgia due to the qualified workforce and simplicity of doing business”, the Agency said.
Girteka established a global services office in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi last year and is employing 65 staff at this point while expecting to expand to 200 by the end of this year, the body also said.
