Georgia’s National Competition Agency on Thursday announced it had reprimanded a Tbilisi-based veterinary clinic for failing to provide its services in the Georgian language to a customer, and ordered the business to remedy the shortfall following the latter’s complaint.
The decision came after a citizen filed a complaint with the Agency, saying ZooPlaza clinic had failed to provide service to her in the language.
The competition body - which is also tasked with responding to customer complaints on service and terms of businesses - said it had instructed the company to provide services, information and written documents to customers in the Georgian language “clearly, comprehensively and completely” after holding an inquiry.
It also ordered the clinic to submit evidence of its fulfilling of the obligations within one month, to avoid a repeat investigation and potential fines.
The Agency has made a series of decisions on consumer right violations by domestic companies over the recent years, following the introduction of the Law on Protection of Consumer Rights on June 1, 2022.
