The Competition Agency of Georgia on Monday said it had solved 109 issues related to protection of consumer rights out of 194 complaints it received between November and March.

During the five months, the Agency reached 28 agreements in 49 cases of alleged violations, with the deals made in favour of consumers.

The agreements were reached with traders to undertake an obligation to change internal business policies and restore the rights of consumers who were allegedly harmed as a result of their [previous] trading policy”, the body said.

It also added fulfilment of the obligations would be “actively monitored”.

In the same period, the Agency confirmed five violations of consumers rights in 16 cases, while in two cases violations were not confirmed.

The Agency said 80 percent of applications received from consumers were related to online shopping, with 20 percent related to local shopping.

The majority of complaints - 90 percent - were received from the capital city of Tbilisi, followed by the western region of Imereti, with four percent, and the Black Sea region of Adjara with three percent.
