Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze and Loïc Fauchon, the President of the World Water Council, on Friday said they were ready to deepen cooperation in management of water resources and development of supply infrastructure at a meeting in New York.
The Ministry of Infrastructure said Fauchon had praised the Georgian Government’s “long-term plan” for providing the country's population with drinking water “that meets the standard”.
As part of his working visit to the United States, Karseladze also met Norbert Totschnig, the Austrian Federal Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management. The officials shared their countries’ experience in managing water resources and providing populations with drinking water.
The Ministry also said Totschnig had confirmed the Austrian Government's support for Georgia's accession to the European and Euro-Atlantic structures and expressed readiness for “closer cooperation” in water resources management and development of supply systems.
Both meetings were held as part of the United Nations Water Conference, hosted in New York between Wednesday and Friday.
