Ongoing projects in Georgia, supported by the Asian Development Bank, were discussed on Saturday by the country’s Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze and Woochong Um, the Managing Director General of the ADB.

In a meeting held within the scope of the 2023 United Nations Water Conference in New York, the sides emphasised the Bank’s support in the institutional strengthening of Georgia, including by encouraging important projects of water supply and road infrastructure.

The willingness for further development of cooperation was expressed by the sides, which would become even more intense during the construction of the Anaklia deep-sea port on Georgia's Black Sea coast, as well as laying the Black Sea submarine electricity cable, the Infrastructure Ministry said.

Karseladze thanked Woochong Um for his support and highlighted that the ADB was a “very important partner” of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, as “the Bank has been represented in almost all areas of the Ministry's portfolio”.
