Georgian servicemembers claim 22 medals at US Marine Corps Trials for injured troops

The Georgian team returned from the United States Marine Corps Trials, an international competition for injured servicemembers, on Tuesday with 22 medals under their belt.

After collecting eight gold, nine silver and five bronze medals at the event, the team was welcomed back in Georgia by Giorgi Bubunauri, the Deputy Defence Minister, Brigadier General Joni Tatunashvili, the Deputy Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces, and Karlo Labadze, the Head of the Ministry’s Social Issues and Psychological Support Department.

Hosted between February 26-March 12 in California, the competition saw the 10-member team involved in seven categories and earning gold medals in rowing, cycling and shot put.

They were also awarded silver and bronze medals in shooting, running, sitting volleyball and archery.
