Infrastructure Ministry fulfils 2022 budget with 103.5% excess

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia exceeded its approved 2022 budget by 103.5 percent, spending ₾104.1 million ($38.92mln) more than proscribed by the financial plan for the year, the state body revealed on Thursday.

The Ministry spent ₾3.79 billion ($1.42bln) on infrastructure projects in 2022, with the figure also exceeding the previous year’s expenditure by ₾565.6 million ($211.48mln).

Agencies under the body’s management also exceeded annual budget plans, with the Roads Department spending ₾1.95 billion ($0.73bln), or 105 percent of the annual adjusted plan, the Municipal Development Fund using ₾630.3 million ($235.67mln), or 101 percent of its budget, and the United Water Supply Company’s spending reaching ₾445.2 million ($166.46mln) - 101 percent of the office’s budget.

The Ministry’s overall 2022 budget spend was a 23 percent increase over the ₾2.513 billion ($.0.94bln) expenditure of 2021, with the office adding the 2023 budget plan was marking another "historical maximum" with ₾3.331 billion ($1.25bln) - 12 percent higher than the approved budget of the previous year.
