Infrastructure Ministry fulfils budget with 113.5% excess in Jan.-June 2023

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia exceeded its approved budget by 13.5 percent, spending ₾158.7 million ($60.93mln) over the proscribed financial plan for the first six months of 2023, the state body said on Tuesday.

The Ministry said it had spent ₾250.1 million ($96mln) more on infrastructure projects this year than in the same period of 2022, which it said was the “highest six-month performance rate” in its history.

Agencies and companies under the body’s management also exceeded annual budget plans, with:

  • The Roads Department spending ₾870.7 million ($334.27mln), or 115 percent of the plan
  • The Municipal Development Fund - ₾235.6 million ($90.45mln) or 105 percent
  • The United Water Supply Company  - ₾203.4 million ($78mln) or 117 percent
  • The Solid Waste Management Company - ₾17.3 million ($6.64mln) or 121 percent

Last year the Ministry also exceeded its approved budget by 103.5 percent. The figures showed the Ministry spent ₾104.1 million ($39.97mln) more than proscribed by the financial plan for the year.
