A Georgian platoon has returned from its six-month service within the European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic, the Ministry of Defence of Georgia said on Wednesday.

Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze and Colonel Roman Jokhadze, the Commander of the Georgian National Guard, welcomed the servicemembers on their arrival at Tbilisi International Airport last night.

The first Georgian contribution to the mission in the Central African Republic took place starting in 2014, when service members from Georgia joined the EU operations in the state.
