Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has praised “never-before-seen” support for Ukraine amid the Russian invasion, adding Georgia would continue to “express solidarity” with the country through continued humanitarian aid.

Every citizen, their life is very precious for me and for us. I do not want to repeat that we have [already] sent hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid. The support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people has been at a never-before-seen level. We need to continue this humanitarian process and express our solidarity in this way,” Garibashvili said.

On March 12, the Georgian Parliament handed over a humanitarian aid package to the Red Cross Society for forwarding the cargo to people in Ukraine affected by the war.

The aid came in addition to other packages sent since the start of the Russian invasion by state institutions, non-governmental entities, entrepreneurs and citizen groups in Georgia.

On March 18, Andrei Kasyanov, the Representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia, expressed his gratitude to citizens and authorities of Georgia for their humanitarian assistance.
