Georgia has expressed its support and assistance to Ukraine on all international platforms, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, said in an interview released by Imedi TV on Wednesday.

Responding to criticisms and controversy over the Government’s decisions on not joining international sanctions on Ukraine, Kaladze stressed there was “no lack of communication” between Georgian and Ukrainian authorities, but declined to assess critical statements from the Ukrainian side, citing the ongoing war as its reason.

Georgia is not the only country that does not and cannot join the sanctions [imposed on Russia]. There are economically much stronger countries that do not join these sanctions. But, I repeat it once again: Georgia has expressed its support and assistance to Ukraine on all international platforms,” Kakha Kaladze said.
