The Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has arrested two individuals for the sale of expired dairy products, with up to six tonnes of the product seized, the Ministry said on Tuesday.
The body said the offenders were re-wrapping expired and inedible dairy products as new and fraudulently selling them in bakeries, fast-food facilities and markets in Tbilisi.
It also said the offenders were buying the products - intended as animal food - at a low price from a domestic company.
The crime is punishable by up to two years in prison.
