The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has charged an individual with income tax evasion in Georgia’s western region of Adjara, the state body said on Friday.

The Service said its investigation had found the offender had “systematically” submitted incorrect income documents for the company they managed between 2016-2019.

It also noted the tax avoidance had resulted in a loss of ₾1,199,261 ($446,685) for the state budget.

The crime is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
