The “successful” relations between Georgia and the European Union and the efforts made by the country’s Government for integration into the bloc were discussed on Monday in a meeting between Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Oliver Varhelyi, the European Union Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Policy.
The officials also reviewed the progress achieved in the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission for granting the country the membership candidate status, the Georgian foreign office said.

The meeting focused on the importance of Georgia’s economic and sectoral rapprochement with the European Union and its full integration into the internal market, as well as of the need for “close cooperation” for “effective” implementation of “flagship partnership projects”.
In the meeting, the two officials also “positively assessed” the latter projects within the framework of the Eastern Partnership’s Economic and Investment Plan.
