Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday sent his condolences on the deaths of Georgian volunteers in Ukraine over the recent days, calling the reported events a “tragedy for us”.

I would like to express my condolences to the families of the deceased, their close ones and friends. Here I would like to mention once again that this is a great pain and loss for us”, Garibashvili said.

“Already 33 of our fellow citizens have died in this war, which is, of course, a tragedy for us. So again, my condolences to their families”, the head of the Government concluded.

Avto Rurua, Romeo Pirchakhia, Roland Kvaratskhelia, Badri Markelia and Merab Aladashvili became the latest casualties among Georgian volunteers in Ukraine on Saturday, while Jambulat Khoperia died on Thursday.

The first Georgian volunteer was killed in the conflict on March 18, shortly after the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24.
