The investigation service of the ministry of finance of Georgia has charged two individuals with running an illegal gambling business in the Black Sea region of Adjara, the state body said on Thursday.

The service said the individuals were running gambling facilities in two different locations in the city of Batumi without the mandatory permit.

It also said the offenders had arranged table gambling and broadcasted lotto drawing process on websites of internet casinos operating outside Georgia, adding the operation had caused a loss of ₾350,000 (about $128,899) to the state budget.

The crime is punishable by up to five years in prison.
