The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has charged three foreign citizens with running an illegal gambling business in the Black Sea region of Adjara, the state body said on Monday.
The Service said the individuals had been running gambling facilities in three different locations in the regional capital of Batumi without permit.
It also said the offenders had arranged table gambling and broadcasted lotto games on websites of internet casinos operating outside Georgia, adding the operation had caused a loss of about 100,000 ($37,986) to the state budget.
The crime is punishable by between three and five years in prison.
