Tea Akhvlediani, the Georgian state minister for reconciliation and civil equality, on Sunday discussed the implementation of reconciliation and inclusion of conflict-affected communities in the country, as well as questions of cooperation, with ambassadors and international organisation representatives.
The meeting overviewed results achieved by the state body in its work, its future visions and concrete ways of further cooperation with diplomatic representatives and international partners, the press office of the state minister’s office said on Monday.
Akhvlediani thanked international partners for their firm support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognised borders, emphasising the importance of “close, coordinated cooperation”.
The parties paid significant attention to the “severe” humanitarian and legal situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia, highlighting discrimination and other gross violations of fundamental rights of the local population, especially ethnic Georgians living in the Russian-occupied western Gali and central Akhalgori municipalities.
The meeting also emphasised the need to continue joint efforts to ensure the “unconditional and immediate” release of Georgian citizens illegally detained by occupation forces along the line separating the occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) from the rest of the country, based on a humanitarian approach.
Akhvlediani pointed out the vision, goals and objectives of the state policy of civil equality and integration, with ambassadors and representatives of international organisations positively evaluating activities of her office and expressing “full readiness” for further close cooperation.
